Blue Monster 70826 Gas Guard PTFE Thread Seal Tape – Yellow, 1/2″ x 260″

Blue Monster Gas Guard thread seal tape is a high-density, yellow PTFE tape specifically formulated for threaded gas line connections. It is intended for use on pipe systems conveying natural gas, propane, butane, or other hydrocarbon-based fuels. The tape meets industry requirements for sealing threaded joints in residential, commercial, and industrial gas piping systems.

This tape is manufactured without stretch, resulting in maximum density and uniform sealing coverage. It is compatible with a wide range of piping materials including carbon steel, brass, copper, aluminum, and select plastics used in gas distribution. Its non-hardening properties ensure long-term service without cracking or degradation under thermal cycling.

Product Specifications

  • Material Composition: 99% virgin PTFE, <1% pigment
  • Dimensions: 1/2 inch width × 260 inch length
  • Color: Yellow (designated for gas line applications)
  • Thickness: 0.004″ ±10%
  • Density: 1.5 g/cm³ ±10%
  • Tensile Strength: 10–17 N/mm
  • Temperature Range: -400°F to +500°F
  • Non-Flammable / Non-Toxic

Application Guidelines

  • Use only on clean, dry, threaded connections approved for PTFE sealing
  • Wrap tape clockwise around male threads, overlapping by 50% with 2–3 full wraps
  • Do not over-apply or use as a gap filler; tape is for thread engagement sealing only
  • Not intended for use on oxygen lines or in systems with liquid halogens

Performance Considerations

  • Corrosion Resistance: Helps prevent thread seizure and electrolytic reaction between dissimilar metals
  • No Curing Time: Allows for immediate pressurization after assembly
  • Industry Recognition: Yellow color standard for easy identification on gas service lines

This tape complies with sealing requirements on fuel gas systems when applied per manufacturer and local code guidelines. Always verify compatibility with system materials and pressure classifications before use.
